The days are getting hotter and suddenly that microwave porridge you've been devouring for the last few months is looking so last season. It's time to start getting reacquainted with smoothies, fresh salads and insta-worthy acai bowls!
Here's a list of our top must-try spots around Brisbane to keep you feeling as cool as a cucumber through the next few months - summer, we missed ya!
Suki – Various locations
Nothing screams summer like a freshly made salad, especially when your choices are almost endless! If you haven’t tried one of their sushi burritos you’re missing out, and with various locations around Brisbane, it’s one of the most convenient healthy lunches going around.
HINT: If you can’t decide on the perfect bowl or burrito combo, choose from one of their favorites, ours has got to be the ‘The Fighter’ filled with kingfish, sriracha ponzu and wasabi peas? Yes please!
Fortitude Café – Fortitude Valley
Bringing brunch goals to Brunswick Street was well and truly overdue and these guys do it so well! The digs are on point, with loads of natural lighting and photogenic food, keeping your inner foodie photographer more than happy! Pop in for breakfast, lunch or even a Friday afternoon beverage as they also dabble in mixing a decent drop from Monday – Friday till late.
HINT: Their new Summer menu is perfect for on-the-go and as well as dine-in. We suggest giving the cobb salad a go (with a PERKii to wash it all down of course!) you won’t be disappointed!
Mylk&Ko – New Farm
You know those colourful bowls of bliss you keep seeing pop up on your feed? Well there’s a 90% chance they were made by the good people at Mylk&Ko! These guys know how to bowl, not to mention their savoury options are to die for! There's some amazing vegan and vegetarian friendly options including being able to pretty much sub out any animal protein for falafel!
HINT: If you're an early weekend riser, The Jan Powers Farmers Markets are on every Saturday from 6am and only a short walk from this beautiful cafe. Sounds like the perfect Summer morning to us!
Lakeside Café - UQ
Still stuck at uni this Summer? No worries! Lakeside café is one of our absolute favorites, based at the birthplace of PERKii, it serves up some seriously good coffee, delicious Vietnamese rolls (delicious AND nutritious!) and everything in between. Grab a PERKii from the fridge while you wait for your food and you’ve got yourself an A+ meal!
HINT: Seating is abundant at this awesome cafe but if you're craving a little extra sun, grab a grassy patch on the lawn nearby and enjoy the amazing views UQ has to offer!
Kiss the Berry – Southbank
You can’t have summer without smoothies and acai! Head to Kiss the Berry for a huge amount of amazing options to keep you cool all Summer long. We can’t go past ‘The original’ (simple but oh so good!) although if you’re looking for something a little different, their new Summer menu is goals!
HINT: There's a menu item to suit everyone, including dairy and gluten free options to keep every tummy happy and healthy!
